Tanzania: Vijana Milioni 1.5 Million Hawapo Shuleni

Sera za Serikali Zinakwamisha Mkakati wa Elimu ya Bure ya Sekondari

(Dar es Salaam, 14, Februari 2017) – Zaidi ya asilimia 40 ya vijana wa Tanzania hawapati elimu bora ya awamu ya kwanza ya sekondari (kidato cha kwanza hadi cha nne) mbali na uamuzi chanya wa serikali kufanya elimu hii ya sekondari kuwa bure, inasema ripoti iliyotolewa na shirika la kimataifa la kutetea haki za binadamu la Human Rights Watch.

Ripoti hiyo yenye kurasa 98, "'Nilikuwa na Ndoto za Kumaliza Shule': Vipingamizi katika Elimu ya Sekondari Tanzania," inaangazia vikwazo, ikiwa ni pamoja na vikwazo vitokanavyo na sera za serikali zilizopitwa na wakati, ambazo zinazuia zaidi ya vijana milioni 1.5 kupata elimu ya sekondari na kusababisha wengine wengi kuacha shule kwasababu ya hali duni ya elimu. Matatizo hayo ni pamoja na kutokuwepo kwa shule za sekondari vijijini, mtihani unaoweka ugumu wa kujiunga na shule ya sekondari, na sera za kinidhamu za serikali zinazowafukuzisha shule wasichana waliopata ujauzito au kuolewa
